Soms koopt je vrouw een moderne spijkerbroek met vest voor je, inklusief shirt dat onder het vest uit moet steken ; dus zeg maar over je broek heen.
“Pap, je shirt hangt uit je broek, zo wil je niet op straat komen”, was het eerste dat mijn teenager boys zeiden toen ze mij zagen.
Astrid zei “Goh, ‘t stond zo leuk op die modepop”.
Als of ze modepoppen hebben met een peervorm!
In die context kijk ik soms terug op m’n jeugd en mijn onhandigheid.
Onder het motto wat m’n ogen zien vernielen m’n handen, waag ik me niet meer aan handyman klusjes.
Vol trots kan ik dan ook melden wanneer we iemand ons huis laten zien dat in de garage mijn vrouw’s gereedschapskist staat.
Meldde ik vorige week al dat ik een watje was (maar wel een leuke schreef iemand), dan bevestig ik dat nogmaals gaarne.
Niet alleen heb ik eens een prachtige speaker aan barrels gezaagd, maar ik ben ook niet te genieten terwijl ik aan het klussen ben.
Ergo, leerde ik al jong om wat harder te werken en het dan te kopen.

The International Luge Federation and Vancouver Olympic officials said their investigation showed that the crash was the result of human error and that “there was no indication that the accident was caused by deficiencies in the track.”
In a joint statement they said Kumaritashvili was late coming out of the next-to-last turn and failed to compensate. “This resulted in a late entrance into curve 16 and although the athlete worked to correct the problem, he eventually lost control of the sled, resulting in the tragic accident.”
Soms denk je wel eens zouden ze dan niet eerst moeten controleren of die rodelaar wel over de kwaliteiten beschikt om die afdaling te maken!

Last but not least kunnen wij melden dat de Buckhorn Grill ook de gun fanatics gaat weigeren.
In a letter to their customers, Buckhorn Grill, which was the site of last weekend’s open carry event, has apologized, and banned guns from their restaurant.
Here’s the letter, from their owner John Pickerel….
Buckhorn Grill would like to apologize for some misunderstanding about our “no weapon policy” in any of our restaurants.
We have not in the past nor shall in the future allow weapons in our restaurants from our employees, vendors or customers.
We made an exception on February 6, 2010, and regret this decision now. We were misled with some facts.
The local police were involved and we knew none of the weapons were loaded, but it still caused tension with the large mob of people arriving as a group instead of individually. It was supposed to be a group luncheon, and it turned into a meeting.
It was an organized propaganda meeting with an agenda. Flyers were handed out and none of this was Okayed with management.
There were supposed to be only fifty people, and at least 100 were there. We were told that the luncheon would be an hour, and it turned into two hours We only have about seventy seats, so some of our customers had no place to sit.
We apologize for any inconvenience to our regular customers, it will not happen again. We want to have a safe place for you to dine, and a safe place for us to work. Thanks for your support and understanding.
